With the “upload” permission a folder becomes an inbox: customers drop large files there without any account.

Whatever you send or publish from nordDOCS carries your organisation’s signature.

Virus scanning included

Every uploaded file is automatically checked for malware. Anything found goes straight into quarantine and can no longer be retrieved — your administrators are informed. The scan runs on your own server, without an external virus service.

Recycle bin

Deleted by accident? Files can be restored from the recycle bin.

Versions

Retrieve earlier versions of a document at any time — even after many changes.

Your own cloud — instead or in addition.

If your files already live somewhere else, simply connect that storage.

Nextcloud, OneDrive/SharePoint, Google Drive or Dropbox can be connected as storage — the files then stay there.

Frequently asked questions about nordDOCS

Do I need Microsoft Office to edit files?
No. You open and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files straight in the browser — based on Collabora, without a local office licence. The files stay in their familiar formats, so recipients can open them with Microsoft Office as well.
Can external parties upload files without an account?
Yes. You create a public link to a folder with the “upload” permission — that turns the folder into an upload inbox. Anyone with the link can drop large files there, with no account and no sign-in. The link can be protected with a password, and on request you are notified as soon as somebody drops something.
Where are my files stored?
On servers in Germany, in your own environment under your own address. Backups are taken daily. 250 GB of storage per instance is included; an extra 1 TB costs €10 per month, net plus statutory VAT.
Can I carry on using my existing cloud?
Yes. Nextcloud, OneDrive/SharePoint, Google Drive or Dropbox can be connected as storage — instead of or in addition to the built-in store. The files then stay where they are, and those providers’ familiar desktop clients keep synchronising them to your computer as before.
Is there a sync client for the desktop?
nordDOCS itself does not come with its own desktop synchronisation client. You can download individual files and folders at any time. If you want continuous synchronisation on your computer, connect your own cloud (Nextcloud, OneDrive/SharePoint, Google Drive, Dropbox) and use its desktop client.
What happens to my files if I cancel?
Before your environment is deleted you have the opportunity to export your data — the deadlines are set out in the Terms (§ 8). Your files are held in common formats and can be taken away as a download; anyone who has connected their own cloud keeps the files there anyway.
